Minimum: 20.85 per hour Maximum: 22.94 per hour
Under general supervision, this position: performs routine duties such as meal preparation, portioning, assembly, delivery, distribution, disassembly, cleaning, operating equipment, stocking, cash transactions and customer service in all functional areas of the department. This position must be independent and able to make some decisions as a supervisor is not on duty at all times.
  • Grade 12 or equivalent is preferred.
  • Ability to clearly speak, read, write and comprehend English.
  • Food Safe Handling certification is required within 6 months.
  • Institutional cook experience and/or Journeyman Cook designation preferred.
  • Completion of Dementia Care workshop would be an asset.
  • Cooking experience desired, preferably in an institutional setting.
  • Food service experience desired.
  • Hospital food service experience desired.
  • WHIMIS knowledge.
  • Ability to produce meals of acceptable quality is required.
  • Ability to work within time frames is required.
  • Ability to perform basic math functions required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with other staff, patient, and visitors required.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 Kg. required.
  • Ability to work weekends and days/evenings required. Ability to work independently.
