Under the supervision of a registered Occupational Therapist and Physiotherapist demonstrates:
Ability to engage adult clients to work towards achieving wellness and health.
Respect for clients, families, and interprofessional health colleagues
An awareness of the Therapy Assistant role in the following health settings: acute care, rehabilitation service, continuing care and community.
Strong knowledge and familiarity with therapeutic exercise programs.
An understanding of enabling clients’ occupation needs.
Competency in the measurement and safe use of mobility aids such as canes, walkers and wheelchairs.
Familiarity with AADL program and processes.
Safe practices when lifting and/or transferring clients and/or equipment.
Good foundational knowledge of medical terminology.
Competency working with minimal supervision.
Ability to build knowledge and skills through self reflection, peer referencing, and self directed learning.
Verbal and written communication skills that is timely, clear and accurate.

Graduate of a certified Therapy Assistant Program preferred
Previous work experience with Occupational Therapy and/or Physical Therapy essential
Valid driver’s license – travel is required.
Current Basic Rescuer – CPR
Established computer skills. Microsoft office, Outlook and Meditech knowledge an asset.
