The Addictions Counselor III is a member of the new Integrated Justice Services Program (IJSP) team, a multi disciplinary group of professionals working with offenders who are considered to be high risk to re-offend. The offenders have been sentenced to a community based disposition and are therefore residing in the community. Reporting to the Manager of the IJSP, the Addictions Counselor is primarily responsible for providing treatment and education services related to alcohol, drugs and gambling concerns. This position works with individuals who are repeatedly involved with Community Corrections and who are struggling with addiction, mental health and community living issues. Services are primarily clinical in nature and include group facilitation, outreach assistance to clients and their families, and working closely with community agencies in facilitating needed ongoing treatment and support.
Bachelor of Social Work (Masters preferred), Master of Psychology (Masters required), RN/RPN (Bachelors preferred). Registration with professional college under HPA required. Minimum 3-5 years clinical experience working with individuals who have mental health and addiction issues. Outpatient/community experience essential. Knowledge and experience with Corrections/Forensics preferred. Drivers license and reliable vehicle.
