Minimum: 20.84 per hour Maximum: 25.34 per hour
This position is required for casual / relief work. This position reports to the operations manager, and is under the leadership and guidance of the Medical Director. Duties include, but are not exclusive to: providing comprehensive billing support, scheduling appointments with patients, completing registrations, data entry support for billing and maintenance of demographic information on the Phantim system, reporting of clinical demographic information and answering phones and processing calls and other related duties.

Scope of Responsibilities:
  • Performs data entry in accounting software for direct patient billings and for tracking third party billings
  • Codes billing information on Medical Billing Software (MD 2000) and submits to Logistic Resources
  • Acts on Alberta Health Care Coverage issue management as per set procedure
  • Scheduling patient appointments as per set procedure
  • Files backup copies of patient billings and other financial records
  • Maintains various lists (e.g.,staff telephone list)
  • Completing patient registrations
  • Answering phones and processing calls
  • Performs other duties as requested
  • Grade 12 or equivalent required
  • Admitting Clerk Course / Medical Office Assistant / Unit Clerk course and / or no less than three years experience in a clerk/secretarial position in a fast pace, high traffic primary medical health care clinic or acute care setting
  • Demonstrated proficient knowledge of Phantim system (including Word and Excel) is mandatory; as well as Netscape, Windows, and Alberta Health & Wellness Directory
  • Proficiency in Medical Billing Software 2000 is an asset
  • Accurate data entry and computer skills required
  • Experience in completing and processing health care forms. (ie. Patient chargeables, Alberta Health Care applications etc.)
  • Excellent communication skills (phone & front desk reception); in dealing with clients of varying ages, socio-economic status and Aboriginal descent
  • Ability to prioritize work within a multi-disciplinary team environment with constant interruptions and changing work demands
  • Demonstrated time management and organizational skills
