Alberta Health Services, Cancer Care and the Clinical Department of Oncology, Calgary Zone, has a vacancy for a Clinical Assistant, Oncology. This position is of interest to International Medical Graduates who have completed a minimum of 1 year (preferably 2 years) as a bedside physician/Clinical Assistant in the Calgary Clinical Assistants Program (CCAP) or equivalent; or family physicians who have a full practice license in a Canadian jurisdiction.

Want to work in a collegial multidisciplinary academic team environment? The Clinical Assistant, Oncology, will provide direct inpatient care to patients admitted under the Medical and Radiation Oncology services at Foothills Medical Centre. The successful candidate, working in conjunction with supervising Medical and Radiation Oncologists, will oversee work of up to 4 bedside physicians/clinical assistants working within the Alberta Clinical and Surgical Assistant Program (ACSAP) [formerly CCAP], and have educational and quality improvement responsibilities

Qualifications include an MD, or equivalent degree, and a minimum of 1 year of experience as a bedside physician or residency training in the Canadian setting. Excellent command of English, both written and spoken, and strong communication skills are definite assets.


Contract position.

CPSA license requirement - Eligibility for Full Practice License or Limited Practice License.

"International Medical Graduates will need to have completed, at a minimum, the Medical Council of Canada Evaluating Examination (MCCEE) and the Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination Part 1 (MCQEE) and have some supervised clinical experience in the Canadian health care setting to be eligible for a CPSA Limited Practice Licence."
