Minimum: 38.70 per hour Maximum: 51.43 per hour
This is a senior position that requires an expert clinician with progressive ideas and energetic leadership qualities. This motivated self starter is responsible for providing leadership in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of the formal educational programs (orientation, certification, continuing competency, etc) for Respiratory Services (RS) at Rockyview General Hospital and works collaboratively with the RS Education Consultants in the Calgary Zone developing these formal programs.

The Respiratory Therapist Educator, in collaboration with the Clinical Supervisors, leads the development of policy and practice support documents. Identifies opportunities for professional practice development and provides leadership for implementation of new Respiratory Therapy practices. The Respiratory Therapist Educator will collaborate with site clinical leaders for practice related education and policy and with student program clinical liaisons as point of contact for communication of student clinical education for the site.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Respiratory Therapy.
  • Registered with the College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta Therapy (CARTA).
  • Successful completion of the CARTA/CSRT certification examination or recognized equivalent.
  • Current Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT) registered member preferred.
  • Relevant undergraduate degree preferred
  • Masters degree preferred.
  • Courses and/or certificates in adult education preferred.
  • Current BLS-HCP Certification required. BLS Instructor preferred.
  • Current advanced practice instructor preferred- ie ACLS instructor, PALS instructor, NRP instructor, etc.
  • CRE designation preferred.

  • Five years RT clinical experience in a variety of clinical areas preferred.
  • Experience with preparation, delivery and evaluation of educational programs preferred.
  • Supervisory and/or educational experience preferred.

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Ability to maintain own clinical knowledge and competence current.
  • Educational facilitation and clinical instruction skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently. Self directed and highly self motivating.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary environment. Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and handle competing priorities. Demonstrated ability to interact positively with staff, students, physicians, patients, and visitors.
  • Proven leadership abilities. Demonstrated ability to motivate staff RTs with regard to performance and professional development.
  • Good verbal, non-verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc is required.
