Minimum: 20.97 per hour Maximum: 25.16 per hour
This position reports to the Supervisor in the Environmental Waters Laboratory. Key responsibilities:
  • Opens, sorts, numbers and assigns appropriate test codes for laboratory specimens.
  • Performs designated procedures on specimens.
  • Prepares media and assists technologists with subcultures as instructed.
  • Enters data from requisitions into the laboratory computer to correlate with demographic reports.
  • Performs maintenance on laboratory equipment.
  • Completion of Grade 12.
  • Current experience in an Environmental Waters Microbiology Laboratory preferred.
  • Data entry experience an asset.
  • Knowledge of laboratory operations, associated with specimen receiving and accessioning in a laboratory.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills.
  • Proven interpersonal skills for dealing with people in a team-oriented environment.
  • Proven critical thinking, analytical, problem-solving, planning and decision-making skills.
  • Strong commitment to customer service and satisfaction.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
