Legal Assistant - Commercial Department, Legal & Privacy

Salary will commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Coordinates and delivers, with discretion, confidentiality and professionalism, legal administrative support to the Commercial Legal team Prepares, organizes and tracks a high volume of confidential documentation, including legal files, correspondence, transaction records, Board binders, corporate searches, pleadings, and Dictaphone notes Opens and closes legal files and prepares retainer/billing letters Demonstrates well-developed time management skills while maintaining a high level of accuracy Reviews, proofreads and formats legal documents and tracks negotiated language changes Conducts online research for Land Title and Corporate searches Advises Legal Counsel on document presentation, including the use of correct AHS’ templates and formats to ensure compliance with AHS’ standards Maintains SharePoint database for the Department Diarizes deadlines and oversees day-to-day workflow and scheduling Schedules appointments for multiple Legal Counsel and other legal staff Transmits legal correspondence to clients electronically or by mail Completes administrative forms, including expense reports and supply orders Maintains law guides and legal updates within the Department’s library Schedules and coordinates meetings, travel, teleconferences and video-conferences Assists with mail distribution within the Department Completes work with minimal direction and within established procedures and practices Works with a strong understanding of the needs and priorities within the Department and/or supervisor
Minimum of post-secondary education and Office Administration or Legal Assistant Certificate or Diploma Minimum of three to five years’ legal administrative experience Proven track record of outstanding communication skills Maturity to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality Exceptional legal organizational skills, attention to detail and computer experience (including Microsoft Office, Prolaw, SharePoint, Inmagic, Excel, CORES) Knowledge of legislative protocols and AHS policies and procedures would be an asset
Salary/Benefits: This position is classified as a T2-1. Minimum $41,500.00 to maximum $58,000.00 annually
