Minimum: 24.44 per hour Maximum: 32.00 per hour
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works as a member of a health care team, collaborating on the delivery of care to meet the needs of the patients/clients within their own level of competency. The LPN is responsible and accountable to the public for his/her own practice, which is monitored and regulated. The LPN is responsible for ensuring that practice meets the legislative requirements and College of Licensed Practical Nurse of Alberta Standard of Practice.

The LPN may be delegated functions by an RN/RPN reflective of their level of education, preparation, demonstrated skill level, Alberta Health Services policies and job descriptions. The LPN participates in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care.
  • Graduate from an approved Licensed Practical Nurse/Registered Nursing Assistant program.
  • Current successful completion of BCLS-HCP program is required.
  • Completion of adult physical assessment, infusion therapy and medical administration as per CLPNA licensing requirements.
  • Recent experience in an acute care setting at full scope of practice.
  • Current registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA).
  • Ability to work as a member of a team and to request and accept direction as required.
  • Critical thinking skills, within scope of practice, including clinical judgment and problem solving skills.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, maturity and initiative.
  • Basic computer skills are an asset.
