Reporting to the Director - Corrections Health (South), the Site Health Services Manager is responsible for healthcare operations at the Calgary Remand Centre. The Manager works both independently and with other stakeholders in providing leadership in the provision of quality care to patients while incarcerated, and support to staff members. The Manager acts as a liaison with both in-centre and community resources and physicians.

The Corrections Site Health Services Manager plays a key leadership role and is responsible and accountable for providing the direction, leadership and organization of the activities of Corrections Healthcare operations within the centre in support of the vision, mission, and values of Alberta Health Services. The position is also accountable for making key decisions (often under tight timelines and situational pressure) and having direct leadership responsibility for establishing and contributing to the achievement of the goals of the AHS Corrections Health portfolio.

Key responsibilities of this position include relationship management, change leadership, resource management (human, material and financial), risk management, and strategic planning. Other components of this management position are administration practices, leadership and operational oversight of health care staff, supporting the continuing education of staff, and liaison between the correctional centre administration and AHS.

Salary/Benefits: This position is classified as a M2-1. Minimum $ 93,000.00 to maximum $ 139,750.00 annually.
  • Bachelor degree in nursing or other related health care profession.
  • Understanding of cross-continuum aspects of the health care delivery system.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a management/supervisory role within the Corrections field is an asset.
  • Superior communication skills, both formal and informal.
  • Superior conflict management skills.
  • Knowledge and experience within of the Alberta health system.
  • A sound understanding of the role and functioning of Alberta Justice and Solicitor General is an asset.
  • Demonstrated change management skills.
  • Openness to change and willingness to consider alternative options.
  • Critical and creative thinking skills.
