An exciting opportunity exists in AHS, Calgary Zone. The South Health Campus (SHC) has opened with new areas continuing to open until late 2013. The SHC will be a full service hospital that will provide new service to Calgary in high need areas including Women's Health, NICU, Emergency, Surgery and Mental Health.

The SHC is more than just a "hospital". It is a campus environment and will include inpatient, outpatient, and wellness services, as well as prevention and public health learning opportunities for the community. The campus will also include a YMCA and retail services.

The SHC has four key pillars of service: Collaborative Practice, Wellness, Patient and Family Centred Care, and Innovation. These pillars are guiding the development and delivery of service to all patients and families at SHC.

Within your cover letter indicate the reason you are applying to the South Health Campus as well as a Pharmaceutical Care Plan that you have recently completed.

A Pharmacist position responsible for the provision of pharmaceutical care to patients and their caregivers according to AHS, hospital and departmental standards. Under direction, the pharmacist is responsible for patient care, drug distribution services, drug information and education/research activities. SHC Pharmacy Services provides 24/7 service.
  • Pharmacy degree from a recognized institution required.
  • Registration or eligibility for registration on the clinical register with the Alberta College of Pharmacists (ACP).
  • Completion of an accredited pharmacy residency program or equivalent hospital experience preferred
  • Active membership in the Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists (CSHP) is recommended.
  • Experience with provision of comprehensive pharmaceutical care preferred.
  • Recent direct patient care experience preferred (at least 1 year within the last 3 years).
  • Recent experience in hospital pharmacy preferred.
  • Experience with a multidisciplinary patient care team preferred.
  • Experience with computer medication order entry, IV admixture and unit dose drug distribution an asset.
  • Experience with Windows-based computer applications an asset
  • Fluency in the English language (both written and verbal).
  • Demonstrates computer literacy for drug information and word processing.
  • Demonstrates ability to use evidence-based medicine in direct patient care.
  • Demonstrates self-directed learning and continuing education.
  • Capable of making decisions and working independently.
  • Demonstrates good time management including ability to switch priorities and multitask.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills, good organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated; able to work both independently and cooperatively in a team environment.
