Minimum: 34.31 per hour Maximum: 45.03 per hour
This Registered Nurse provides clinical care for 'at risk' children and adolescents seen by Alberta Children's Hospital, Mental Health Emergency Services - a sub specialty. Primary responsibilities involve responding to the needs of children and adolescents with complex emotional, behavioral and psychiatric difficulties, utilizing a family centered model of care. This includes the provision of baseline mental health assessment as well as suicide risk/addictions screening, crisis stabilization, the development of community safety / resource access plans, engaging patients in collaborative problems solving, and assistance with care management transition. Role requires the ability to build rapport and work effectively with difficult to engage individuals and to actively collaborate with Emergency Department staff when working under pressure.
  • Current CARNA and/or CPRNA registration required.
  • Graduation from an approved nursing education program.
  • Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred.
  • Current BCLS-HCP required.
  • Certification in non-violent crisis intervention (NVCI) preferred.
  • Previous in-patient mental health experience required.
  • Previous child and adolescent mental health experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of child and adolescent development and family dynamics required.
  • Demonstrated abilities in, and awareness of family centred care preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills required.
  • Strong organizational skill and independent problem solving skills required.
  • Ability to adapt and effectively work in a continuously changing environment is essential.
  • Computer skills required.
