The Paediatric Intensive Care Unit is a Level 3 ICU providing advanced care for patients from birth to 18 years at the Alberta Children's Hospital. This 20 bed unit is fast-paced and dynamic with a focus on excellence in patient care delivery, family centered care and collaborative teamwork. We offer two weeks of classroom instruction and up to six weeks of bedside orientation to successful candidates. The PICU is going through some exciting growth with the launch of our ECLS program & our Critical Care Outreach Team (Rapid Response Team) and the re-launch of our Pediatric Transport Team. The ICU is looking for positive nurses who are passionate about providing the best care to our patients and families. Come Join our Team!
  • Graduation from an approved nursing education program.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS-HCP) registration required.
  • Current CARNA registration.
  • Previous or current paediatric and/or neonatal ICU experience, skills and knowledge preferred.
  • Paediatric ICU certification (CNCC P) an asset.
  • Demonstrated excellent family centered care skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment with a focus on collaborative teamwork.
  • Demonstrated advanced critical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced and potentially stressful environment.
  • Duties may include Transport and Rapid Response.
  • Transport experience an asset.
  • Rapid Response experience an asset.
