The Tomorrow Project ( is a large, long-term study, which aims to find out more about what causes diseases such as cancer, heart disease and other long-term health conditions. The Tomorrow Project in Alberta has been operating since 2001, and most recently it joined with other provinces to form the Canadian Partnership for Tomorrow Project. This pan-Canadian study will follow the health of 300,000 people in British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, Quebec, and Atlantic Canada for next 20-50 years.

In Alberta, the Tomorrow Project is aiming to recruit 50,000 people, age 35-69, who have not been diagnosed with cancer. Participants will be invited to visit one of our Study Centres, where they will be asked questions about their health, diet and lifestyle. They will also be asked to provide small samples of urine, blood or saliva, and have some standard physical measurements taken.

This position will support the provincial mobile study centre unit traveling across Alberta, and will be based out of Calgary (Holy Cross Site).

This is a full time limited term position, extending until March 31st, 2013. Work hours will be based on compressed work week (7 days on (Monday though Sunday) and 7 days off). Hours of work will be extended and will include evenings. Travel across the province will be required.

This is an entry level position. As a member of a team, reporting to Provincial Study Centre Coordinator, this position will be responsible for:
  • Performing physical measurements on participants using standardized protocols
  • Conducting one on one interviews with participants about their lifestyle and other health information
  • Reviewing questionnaires for completeness and accuracy of data using standardized procedures
  • Performing quality assurance checks of measurement equipment on a regular basis
  • Preparing questionnaires for data entry using standardized procedures
  • Entering data using Teleform software
  • Assisting with QA (quality assurance) reviews as directed
  • Handling inbound and outbound participant calls, as needed
  • Other duties as required

    Salary/Benefits: This position is classified as a P1-1. Minimum $ 43,500.00 to maximum $ 61,000.00 annually.
  • Preferred minimum of a BA or BSc in health or life sciences, or a related field.
  • Training in physical measurements and all other aspects of data collection will be provided.
  • Proficiency with MS Office is required.
  • Organized, resourceful and self-starting, with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Comfortable in communicating with the public.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work in a team setting.
  • First Aid and BCLS-HCP certification is an asset.
