This position is responsible for providing administrative support to the SHC Hospitalist Program Leader, SHC Hospitalist Liaison Nurse and RAU Medical Leader under the general supervision of the Hospitalist Program Specialist.
Key Responsibilities include: Scheduling and prioritizing various meetings; correspondence; compiling and formatting data for reports; preparing confidential documentation; preparing, distributing and updating the Hospitalist and RAU schedule; payment of invoices; collecting relevant patient information; admission and discharge notifications and coordination of CME rounds for the Program.
High school diploma. Certificate from a recognized secretarial program. Medical terminology and/or Unit Clerk course. Knowledge of the Alberta Health billing process, rules and regulations. 3-5 years experience. Proficient in using Microsoft Office Applications, email/internet. Must be able to learn new software systems, e.g. Clinibase, SCM. Excellent communication skills on the telephone and interpersonally. Tact and diplomacy are essential. Ability to receive direction and to work independently to complete tasks, prioritize work and achieve agreed upon goals. Previous experience as a billing clerk would be an asset. Ability to be flexible and work with frequent interruptions. Ability to deal with highly confidential material. Ability to deal with patients, families, staff, physicians. and students in an efficient, friendly and professional manner.
