The SHC has four key pillars of service: Collaborative Practice, Wellness, Patient and Family Centered Care, and Innovation. These pillars are guiding the development and delivery of service of to all patients and families at SHC.
Under minimal supervision provides a variety of organizational and secretarial duties for one or more Neurologists. These duties include transcription, maintaining research accounts and preparation of research proposals and manuscripts, organizing and scheduling meetings, preparation and distribution of minutes, distribution of mail, filing, answering telephones and other related duties as required.
Duties will include but are not limited to; Liaising with South Health Campus Ambulatory Neuroscience Clinic Team members concerning physician schedules and patient information. Manage all telephone calls including relaying information to doctors and dealing with general matters in an efficient and timely basis. Receive and respond to a variety of telephone inquiries by providing information, relaying messages and or redirecting calls as appropriate. Transcribing and composing of correspondence as requested including letters and comprehensive medical legal reports. Provide administrative support for physician committee participation and memberships. Maintain financial account information. Type and assist with preparation of grant proposals, clinical trial protocols and academic transcripts. Transcription of routine and confidential correspondence, minutes and annual reports. Supports Clinical Neuroscience Program Development by maintaining data bases and tracking performance metrics as directed by the Physician or Department of Clinical Neurosciences Manager.
The successful candidate is required to have post secondary medical office assistant, terminology or secretarial certificate as well as microsoft office, dictaphone and transcription typing a minimum of 60 wpm. Experience with database management and electronic health records is preferred. Minimum 4 years secretarial or medical clerical experience is required. Experience in Clinical Neurosciences preferred. Must demonstrate time management, prioritizing and organizational skills as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of neurological terminology is required.
