The Area Supervisor, Calgary, Access and Disclosure is a key leadership role in Health Information Management and reports directly to the Provincial Manager, Access and Disclosure – Health Information Management. This position is responsible and accountable for providing the direction, leadership and organization over the activities of the provincial Access and Disclosure service in support of the vision, mission and business plan of Alberta Health Services.
The incumbent is also responsible for: Supervision of Calgary and area Access and Disclosure services to ensure accurate, complete and timely processing of access and disclosure requests in accordance with Alberta Health Services policy and legislative and regulatory requirements. Operating a high quality provincially managed centralized/decentralized Access and Disclosure service supporting patient' and clients health information needs. Collaborating with Health Information Management Provincial and Local Managers and other key stakeholders to ensure the provincial service delivery meets the Alberta Health Services standards and supports local service delivery.
Salary/Benefits: This position is classified as a M1-1. Minimum $78,000.00 to maximum $116,750.00 annually.
A minimum of a bachelor degree in Health Information Management or other healthcare related business degree. Successful completion of a health information management program certified by the Canadian College of Health Information Management and an active certification credential with the Canadian Health Information Management Association. A minimum of 5 years in a Health Informatics/Health Information Management related role in an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity. Experience in the management of an Access and Disclosure service is an asset. Equivalencies of education and experience may be considered.
In addition, the incumbent will possess a record of accomplishment in the following areas: Progressive leadership experience in a health information management related field environment, including 5 years experience in a management role in Health Information Management or related operations. Demonstrated ability to manage change and create innovative solutions for complex and diverse issues. Ability to manage human, financial and physical resources within an operating environment. Proven ability to foster partnerships and to achieve organizational goals within an organization and ideally managing within a unionized sector. Strong track record in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Effective leadership abilities combined with a strong commitment to operating within a team environment and the ability to motivate and inspire other to achieve common goals. Excellent analytical and decision-making skills. Ability to plan, organize and manage short and long term plans and projects and deliver customer-focused results. Proven planning and commissioning skills related to new or modified health information/records management services in new areas/sites. Experience in the implementation of electronic health information systems and health information management business transformation strategies through the use of technology.
