Under limited supervision, the Unit Clerk is responsible for transcribing Physicians' orders and performing clerical and receptionist duties for the nursing unit. The Unit Clerk is instrumental in facilitating communication between nursing and other health disciplines, departments, patients and families, and in maintaining confidentiality of patient information. The position is a major asset to the smooth and efficient operation of the nursing unit.
  • Completion of a recognized Unit Clerk Program.
  • One year current experience in a Unit Clerk or related position preferred.
  • Previous hospital experience required.
  • Computer skills an asset.
  • Must have excellent communication, interpersonal skills and the ability to prioritize and work within a strict timeline.
  • Demonstrated strong organizational skills, attention to detail and accuracy required.
  • Must be able to cope with frequent interruptions and work under pressure within a stressful, demanding and changing environment.
  • Medical terminology is essential.
  • SCM knowledge & training preferred.
  • Individual must be motivated, self-directed and able to embrace change.
  • Experience in Clinibase preferred.
  • Experience on Unit 71 preferred.
