Minimum: 16.26 per hour Maximum: 17.74 per hour
Under the direct supervision of Food Service Supervisor, this position performs/participates in the preparation and serving of food items using industrial food service equipment, complete cleaning of equipment and food prep/service areas, operating and cleaning ware washing equipment and maintaining inventory. May also include reheat (retherm) entrees and may prepare preheat or heat other food ingredients and food items.
This position may also provide meal delivery both to Long Term Care residents and Acute Care patients as well as public in the Cafeteria.
This position must be independent and be able to make some decisions as a supervisor may not be on duty at all times.
Grade 12 is required. Must be Certified Food Handler or willing to complete within six months of employment. Ability to read, write, speak and receive/give instructions in good English, required. Recent related experience in institutional Food Services techniques, equipment and methods, is required. Must have demonstrated excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Must demonstrate ability to perform well in a team environment with minimal supervision. Neat and tidy in appearance with high level of personal hygiene. Able to work in environment of heat, moisture and strong detergents. Must have compassion and respect for the elderly. Must be sympathetic to the needs of clients and able to serve clients in a courteous manner. An excellent attendance record, reliability and personal suitability must be demonstrated through your employment references. Must be physically fit and able to stand, walk for long periods of time and be able to perform heavy lifting up to 20 kg.
