Alberta Health Services in partnership with the University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, are inviting applications from Psychiatrists to join the Department of Addiction and Mental Health in the Edmonton Zone.

Edmonton Zone hospitals are affiliated with the University of Alberta, and serve as important training facilities for residents and students. The Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry has been internationally recognized as among the world’s top 50 medical schools and as one of Canada’s premier health-education institutions.

The Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH) is located in the heart (inner city) of Edmonton.

Our Adult Psychiatry Program serves individuals with acute, severe and complex mental health issues, as well as individuals with co-occuring addiction issues. The inpatient Adult Psychiatry Program offers treatment by an interdisciplinary team consisting of psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists and nurses. The outpatient role includes providing consultation-liasion services to family physicians. Participation in an ECT roster and an on-call roster are also expectations.

Remuneration is based on a fee-for-service basis and is highly competitive with other North American jurisdictions.

We are particularly interested in those who have superior interpersonal skills with a demonstrated commitment to teamwork and peer relationships. The successful candidate should be committed to fulfilling clinical and non-clinical duties as a representative of the Department of Addictions and Mental Health.

The successful candidate will have an MD and must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Psychiatry, for licensure in the province of Alberta. Successful applicants will be expected to apply for a Clinical Academic Colleague appointment with the Faculty of Medicine and Dentristry Department of Psychiatry.
