This position will support clinical and management systems used by medical, technical and administrative personnel at the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute in the provision of cardiac services within the Edmonton zone and province.
The responsibilities and duties will include: Cardiology related clinical applications such as Xcelera (Philips), Pyramis (Cardiac Science Corp.), PaceArt (Medtronic) and interfaces to those systems. These applications are used by clinicians for medical documentation, interpretation of diagnostic procedures, storage and retrieval. Reports are accessed either from the applications or via AHS Netcare. Technical resource for provincial, zone and site initiatives that involves existing clinical applications or planning for future systems. Provides daily expert advice to cardiac sciences physicians and staff. Custom development and support for clinical/non clinical databases that are required to meet specific requirements of cardiac sciences program areas. Project management for implementation of new systems and upgrades to existing systems. These systems would include both clinical and non clinical applications. Assist with development of privacy impact assessments (PIA's). Assist with producing monthly billing/statistics/reporting for Cardiology diagnostic services. Support for ad hoc requests related to research projects. Administration, development, and support for the Cardiac Sciences Ambulatory Program intranet website.
The position functions in an environment that requires a range of information technology skills and understanding of clinical systems to support the daily operations at the MAHI. The individual is expected to work cooperatively and collaboratively with vendors, Clinical Engineering and AHS Information Technology departments to meet the site operational goals.
Salary/Benefits: This position is classified as a P3-1. Minimum $65,250 to maximum $98,000 annually.
Post Secondary Degree or Diploma in computer systems or information technology (IT), from a recognized technical institute. Biomedical Diploma with IT training or experience related to major clinical systems, medical devices and integration of these systems would be preferred. Website development, training, knowledge, and experience would be a definite asset. Strong analytical, problem solving, organizational skills with the ability to multitask are important attributes for this role. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are necessary to support program staff and communicate with external partners.
