As a team member of the Department of Clinical Engineering the Biomedical Technologist II is responsible for providing technical support to health care programs and assisting the management of technology to ensure; equipment safety, equipment reliability, and to deliver the service cost effectively to the health care community.
  • Graduate from a recognized Institute of Technology with a two year diploma in Biomedical Equipment for Electronic Engineering Technology, and or equivalent in education and experience.
  • Courses in medical equipment service and the technology utilized for patient care is an asset.
  • 2 years experience in medical equipment technology coupled with several courses in equipment service, and exhibit a working knowledge of medical terminology and physiology.
  • Basic knowledge of microprocessor and PC based equipment, with experience in software controlled date acquisition and processing equipment.
  • Demonstrate technical skills and mechanical aptitude demonstrate good interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills; proven organization skills.
  • Verbal, numerical, clerical and mechanical skills; visual and auditory acuity; form and spatial perception; manual and finger dexterity; motor coordination; color perception.
  • Must be reliable, alert accurate, capable of working independently and possess good judgment and initiative.
  • May be exposed to excessive noise, bio-hazards, unclean working conditions or equipment using or producing radiation.
  • Travel outside the city or country will be required for equipment training.
  • Must have a valid driver license.
