Emergency Psychiatry Positions, Misericordia Community Hospital
The University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, in partnership with Covenant Health and Alberta Health Services, in partnership with the Department of Addiction and Mental Health are inviting applications for psychiatrists to join the Emergency Department at the Misericordia Community Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta.
Covenant Health is a voluntary healthcare organization that provides programs and services through three of Edmonton's faith-based healthcare facilities: the Edmonton General Continuing Care Centre, the Misericordia Community Hospital, and the Grey Nuns Community Hospital. Covenant Health Hospitals operate full 24-hour emergency services, cardiac care units, programs and services in children's, women's, family and mental health and an array of programs and services for special community needs.
In collaboration with their colleagues, the emergency psychiatrist would manage care of emergency room patients Monday through Friday 9 – 5. In addition this person manages off-service patients requiring psychiatric consultations. Participation in the program’s on-call schedule is required. Remuneration is based on a fee-for service basis.
The successful applicant will be expected to apply for a Clinical Academic Colleague Appointment in the Department of Addictions & Mental Health, University of Alberta, which will be considered under a separate process through the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry.
Candidates must be eligible for registration with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Alberta and for clinical faculty appointment through the University of Alberta’s Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry and must be appointed to the Capital Zone Medical Staff. FRCPC (Psychiatry) required.
