The successful candidate will provide support to the anatomical pathology laboratory by receiving, organizing, accessioning and perform or assist pathologists with autopsy cases following established laboratory protocols. The incumbent will also be responsible for receiving, sorting and matching specimens to requisitions. Performing laboratory computer data entry, limited gross dissection of surgical and biopsy specimens up to and including CPL level four classification of tissues and participating in the various quality control processes within the pathology department. The incumbent will have minor responsibilities which include block and slide filing, operating staining machine, a coverslipping machine and sending out of slides and blocks both internally and externally are duties as well. The incumbent will be working within a team environment where good interpersonal skills, effective time management and the ability to set priorities are necessary. The successful candidate must represent Laboratory Medicine and Pathology in a respectful, professional and courteous manner.
Minimum grade 12 school diploma. Graduate of a recognized Medical Laboratory Assistant Training program required. Medical terminology course certificate is required. Demonstration or certificate of completion of a Human Anatomy and Physiology course will be required. Equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered. Will be required to lift and move heavy loads.

The successful candidate will have the ability to listen, comprehend and orally respond to or relay information, directions or questions in person, over the phone or in writing in an accurate, clear and concise manner.
