Minimum: 20.97 per hour Maximum: 25.16 per hour
The successful candidate will provide pre-analytical support to the clinical laboratory by receiving, accessioning and distributing patient specimens in the 4TH floor Specimen Control area at the University of Alberta Hospital. Primary responsibilities include sorting and matching specimens to requisitions, accessioning requisitions into the laboratory information system, sample distribution and troubleshooting problem specimens and reception duties.
To qualify for this position, you must possess a grade 12 high school diploma and be a graduate of a recognized Medical Laboratory Assistant Training program. Excellent typing skills are required. Knowledge of medical terminology is an asset. You must have the ability to listen, comprehend and orally respond to or relate information, direction or questions in person, over the phone or in writing in an accurate, clear and concise manner. In addition, you will have the ability to organize and prioritize tasks while adapting to changing circumstances and interruptions. You must be an approachable, flexible, reliable and tactful team member contributing to a positive work environment. Recent experience in the area is preferred.
