Reporting to and working under the supervision of the Care Manager, the Mental Health Therapist works interdependently with a team of mental health professionals. The Intake Therapist is the first point of contact for the Child & Adolescent Mental Health Program. Having the primary responsibility for Intake & Urgent referrals, the incumbent requires extensive mental health knowledge & skills to screen and triage all requests for service & information. Role also includes working with community partners to provide education & support to enhance patient care. High expectations exist regarding accessibility, effectiveness & appropriateness of response & decision making. Screening & triage decisions are based on clinical findings gathered from individuals & referring or collateral sources. Majority of work is done over the telephone; however, hospital, community, school & stakeholder visits may be required. This opportunity requires incumbent to work as part of a team to provide effective multi-disciplinary services for the Program.
Applicants will be a registered psychologist, registered social worker, RN, RPN, or registered occupational therapist. Minimum education is a Masters in Social Work or Psychology, a diploma in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing (degree preferred), or a degree in Occupational Therapy. A combination of education and experience will be considered. Advance levels of knowledge and skill in the assessment and treatment of mental, emotional and behavioral disorders is required. 3-5 years of direct clinical experience with the focus on children, adolescence and their families. Current registration with the appropriate professional college or association and current BCLS-HCP Level C is required. Excellent attendance, reliability and personal suitability must be demonstrated through your employment record and references.
