This position reports to and is accountable to the Manager of Central Production & Business Continuity. As a member of the Pharmacy Business Operations team, this position will oversee and provide expertise related to pharmacy distribution processes and related technologies. This includes, but is not limited to, automated dispensing cabinets, packaging machines, compounders, checking machines, and related pharmacy systems. This position will work closely with Pharmacy Informatics, Information Technology (IT) and relevant site operations teams to assist with architecture, design and deployment of these technologies provincially in a sustainable manner.
In addition, this position keeps abreast of current trends and developments in distribution technologies and distribution principles. A working knowledge of how distribution is managed within the province is required to assist with business continuity planning. This position is expected to liaise with key provincial, zone and site operation groups, to establish and maintain relationships to assist with pharmacy distribution optimization.
Successful completion of a recognized Pharamcy Technician program and registration or eligible for registration with the Alberta Collage of Pharmacists (ACP) as a Pharmacy Technician is required. Previous hospital pharmacy experience required with preference given to individuals with a minimum of 5 years of hospital experience. Proficiency with either Meditech, Cerner and Centricity Pharmacy systems is required. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications is highly desired. Project experience is considered an asset. Must demonstrate flexibility and ability to work in a team environment. Incumbent must be self-directed, well-organized, and flexible to meet changing needs of population served. Some travel may be required for this position i.e. offsite attendance at team meetings, and site visits when necessary.
This position is provincial in scope and the location is negotiable.
