The business of the Provincial Student Placement Team is to facilitate and support practice education for the thousands of students who come to our facilities each year. Our work is focused, challenging and always interesting. Reporting to the Manager, Academic Student Relations, within Health Professions Strategy & Practice, the Practice Education Consultant is accountable for providing consultation, liaison and collaboration between AHS, our Educational Partners and health discipline regulatory bodies. The Practice Education Consultant oversees practice education / student placement experiences for Nursing and some allied health students in support of the vision, mission, and business plan of Alberta Health Services (AHS).
The Practice Education Consultant is responsible for practice education consultation activities that are aligned to AHS standards, regulatory standards and scope of practice for regulated and unregulated direct healthcare providers. In addition, the Practice Education Consultant is responsible for supporting the accountabilities outlined in applicable legislation, agreements, contracts and AHS policy affecting staff and our educational partners. The role includes developing, implementing and evaluating strategic initiatives with a focus on practice education.
A minimum of a Masters Degree with a Bachelors degree in a health related discipline and appropriate licenses and designation; consideration will be given to equivalent experience. A minimum of 5 years in a clinical/educator role in an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity.
In addition, the incumbent will possess a record of accomplishment in the following areas: Demonstrated ability to foster relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders Demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making responsibilities, coaching and teaching, and the ability to inspire confidence in others Excellent oral and written communication skills Strong organizational skills, influential skills and commitment to supporting quality Practice Education experiences for students Demonstrated ability to understand and apply key principles of Adult Learning A strong background in healthcare education Dynamic presentation and creative thinking abilities Knowledge of health care regulation and standards Advance skills in collaboration and teamwork facilitation Excellent oral and written communication skills An excellent attendance record, reliability and personal suitability must be demonstrated through your employment references
