Minimum: 34.31 per hour Maximum: 45.03 per hour
Reporting to the Nurse Manager, this position is responsible for providing telephone triage in the provision of health advice and information to callers throughout Alberta. Through the use of clinical software, a variety of information databases and clinical protocols, you will assess, triage and advise patients/callers who present with varied and often complex issues and/or problems. Using your strong customer focus, clinical nursing and assessment skills you will provide high quality and accurate health advice and information in a call centre environment.
The successful candidate must be a Registered Nurse with CARNA Registration. A Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing is preferred. BCLS-HCP required. Qualified candidates will have a minimum of five (5) years recent experience in a clinical setting, including experience in clinical areas requiring high levels of independent assessment and triage skills. Also required is recent experience working with diverse client populations and clinical issues including young families and seniors. Experience interacting with clients over the telephone, nursing telephone triage and mental health training and/or experience would also be assets.

  • Well developed written and verbal communication skills appropriate to the age and developmental stage of the caller, including clear enunciation over the telephone
  • Strong interpersonal skills including conflict resolution and negotiation skills
  • Strong organization, analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to comfortably work with a variety of computer databases and manual resources (type 15 - 20 wpm)
  • Ability to understand and function in a contact centre environment
  • Ability to deal with stress and high call volumes
  • Demonstrated teaching skills, and cultural awareness and sensitivity

    Responsible to provide proof of active registration with the College & Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA) and to maintain registration throughout the duration of employment.
