The Team Lead North, Quality Project Support reports directly to the Director, Quality Project Support (QPS). The Team Lead North provides leadership and supervision to QPS Project Managers in the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of projects and initiatives, in support of the values, vision, mission and business plan of Alberta Health Services. In addition, this position may assume responsibility for initiatives or projects as assigned by the Director, Quality Project Support.

The Team Lead North, Quality Project Support will develop and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders and leaders within the Strategic and Operational Clinical Networks, Quality and Healthcare Improvement and other areas.

The Team Lead North supports service or branch objectives and the operationalization, management and monitoring of quality programs and services in the most effective, leading manner.

The position is also responsible for:
  • Leading and supporting project managers, who provide project management expertise and planning in the development and implementation of sustainable quality, clinical improvement and service optimization projects
  • Supporting an evidence-informed approach to planning, implementation and evaluation of initiatives (such as Clinical Pathways) within the Strategic and Operational Clinical Networks, and within Quality and Healthcare Improvement
  • Providing regular and ongoing coaching, guidance and mentoring of project managers in support of their operationalization of rigorous project management, effective relationship management and skilled group/meeting facilitation
  • Identifying, developing, coordinating and delivering orientation and/or professional development learning for team members
  • Assessing team member experiences with projects and initiatives to support future learning and team development
  • Collaborating and communicating effectively with the Director and with the Team Lead, South; actively participating in and contributing to department leadership planning and activities
  • Demonstrating effective and efficient communication within and outside of the Quality Project Support team
  • Taking on and managing project or assignments as required

    Salary/Benefits: This position is classified as a P4-2. Minimum $80,000.00 to maximum $119,750.00 annually.
  • Undergraduate Degree in a health or business field
  • Project management training and experience, with other relevant certifications/training and experience (ie: change management, process improvement, facilitation, coaching, health services planning, clinical practice improvement, adult learning)
  • 3 years’ experience in a leadership role in an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity
  • Demonstration of a clear pattern of professional and personal development

    In addition, the position will demonstrate a record of accomplishment in the following areas:
  • Progressive leadership in a clinical services and/or project management environment
  • Knowledge and demonstrated application of project management methodology, as well as business planning and modeling
  • Strategic thinking and planning, taking into account long-term goals, assessing options and implications
  • Effective communicator with strong organizational skills, client focused orientation and a commitment to providing quality services
  • Demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making
  • Leadership skills, including coaching and teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others
  • Ability to manage change and create innovative solutions for complex and diverse issues
  • Ability to manage diverse human and physical resources in a changing and multifaceted environment with diverse, complex and sensitive issues
  • Proven ability to foster partnerships and to achieve organizational goals within a large, diverse organization and within a unionized sector
  • Ability to foster a climate of cooperation amongst, and build solid relationships with public agencies, government, boards, committees and other partners
  • Ability to leadership to a diverse group supporting complex and evolving initiatives targeted at optimizing quality and clinical practice, and realizing results
