Reporting to the Central Sterile Service Management Team, the Working Leader (Clinical Assistant) is responsible for the set up of all new instrument sets and making any changes to current set ups in addition to performing staff education. The incumbent will be required to work closely with the Surgery Unit Managers, Operational Working Leaders and the Supervisor of daily operations. The incumbent will also be responsible for maintaining accurate information system data, related to instrument inventory, and also making any relevant changes to pre-existing data. Initiate new inventory information into VAX along with any updates to recipes including clear and precise photographic images of the same. Having the ability to pay particular attention to details is an absolute must. Certification from a recognized sterile processing course is required, as well as a minimum of 5 years recent experience as a Surgical Processor in Central Services. - Knowledge and experience with the WHMIS Program is required.
  • The successful applicant must have extensive knowledge of: OMF – Plastics, Neuro and Ortho
  • Extensive knowledge of instrumentation and set up is also required with preference given to candidates with extensive knowledge in DOR set ups.
  • Advanced Window based and VAX computer skills are required - please note: a test will be given.
  • Must be able to read, write and understand English well. Due to the nature of the duties, the incumbent must be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work in a fast paced and demanding environment.
