The Mental Health Outreach position is to assist in meeting the needs of the severe and chronically mentally ill in the community, enabling them to live a more productive lifestyle. This position is the key contact for Internal and External Clients.

The Technical Attendant assists and participates in program planning and case conferences. Works in conjunction with Licensed Practical Nurses in community outreach. Assists in coordinating placement of clients with specific workers (LPN’s).

This position works cooperatively with community agencies and therapists as it relates to outreach and case planning. Provides support and enhances the community living of the chronically mentally ill (e.g. budget, menu planning, housing needs, social skills, advocacy). Maintains accurate charting and reporting on clients. Perform other duties as required.
  • Registration with the appropriate licensing body where applicable
  • Certificate/Diploma/Bachelor’s Degree in a related social science/health field;
  • CPR BLS certificate
  • First Aide certificate
  • Suicide Intervention training
  • Non Violent Crisis Intervention
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered
  • Minimum of one year’s relevant experience, including relevant experience with adults with mental illness.
  • Driver's License Required
  • Vehicle Required

    In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Northern Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $6,300. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

    Permanent and temporary employees working in excess of one (1) year whose work sites are above the 57th parallel are also eligible to receive an annual reimbursement of personal travel expenses to an annual maximum of $1,235. Eligible employees will be reimbursed for the cost of one (1) round trip, per calendar year, to any destination within Alberta. Travel must originate from a community above the 57th parallel to any destination within Alberta and cannot be carried over.

    • Vehicle Required - Required to provide a vehicle for business use; along with acceptable driver's abstract and proof of business insurance
