If you enjoy working as a front line health worker working closely with the Speech and Language Pathologist in a Primary Health Care setting, to plan and implement speech and language therapy programs for preschool and school aged children, this position will be of interest to you. This position works independently under the direction of the SLP in providing services to individuals, families and groups within the school and the health center settings. Specific duties include preparing and implementing group activities, direct therapy, assisting with intakes and referrals and working closely with parents, specific schools and community partners.
Grade 12 education and recent experience working with school aged children required. Successful completion of a certified SLP Assistant course from an accredited college is required. Equivalencies will be considered. Knowledge of speech-language development, articulation or language therapy techniques, and strategies desirable. A good command of the English language and excellent communication skills are required, including exceptional telephone skills. Good organizational skills and the ability to work independently are required. A valid driver's license and vehicle are required for this position. A working knowledge of computer applications including basic word processing, email, Internet access and data entry is required.
