The Leduc Visiting Specialist Clinic Unit Clerk position is responsible for the day to day operation of a busy outpatient clinic setting. The candidate is responsible for managing telephones, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, managing patient records and charts. The position is also responsible for relaying information related to discharge of patients, diagnostic tests, booking appointments and consults. The incumbent is responsible for processing doctors’ orders including treatment recommendations, laboratory, diagnostic imaging. This position requires communication with several external agencies, physician offices and the Alberta Worker's Compensation Board. This position also ensures an adequate level of supplies and equipment are available on the unit for use by the inter-professional team.
A one-year Unit Clerk certificate with practicum component from a recognized post secondary institution is required. Relevant experience will also be considered. Unit Clerk experience is preferred. Successfully completed a recognized course in medical terminology is necessary. CPR (BCLS) is required. Exceptional communication and organizational skills are essential.
