P3 $65,250 minimum annually - $98,000 maximum annually
*Remote Retention Allowance: In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.
The Advisor in the Workplace Health & Safety department is a professional position reporting to the Senior Advisor, WHS Services. This position develops and manages various initiatives and/or programs and provides ongoing client support between individuals, departments, sites and programs. Provides leadership to develop a strategy for the coordination and delivery of educational tools/resources and leads the implementation of assigned projects and programs aimed at protecting and enhancing the health, safety and wellness of AHS staff. The position is also responsible for:
Providing input into the needs of staff and line managers in relation to health promotion, safety and hygiene, ergonomic and disease/injury prevention programs.
Implementation of program, policy and procedural strategies to address occupational health and safety hazards on the site or in assigned responsibility areas.
Assisting with the promotion of WHS programs and strategic priorities.
Delivering programs and services to staff and line managers to meet their needs, e.g. occupational hygiene and safety issues, and consultation when required.
Measuring and monitoring the outcomes for current programs and new initiatives.
Educating and training of staff in regulations, practices, procedures, policies and programs.
Acting as an expert resource to JWHSC committees, managers and other stakeholders
WCB Claims Management
Fit testing and, other consultation/duties as required
A minimum of a degree/diploma/certification in Occupational Health & Safety or related discipline and CRSP designation. If CRSP not present, commitment to complete within 2 years must be provided.
A minimum of 3 years of experience in Occupational Health & Safety in an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity is preferred (healthcare experience an asset).
A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development.
Equivalencies of education and experience may be considered.
A valid driver’s license is required.
A current and original Criminal Record Check is a requirement of all external applicants in order to be considered for a position.
