P3 $65,250 minimum annually - $98,000 maximum annually
*Remote Retention Allowance: In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

The Advisor in the Workplace Health & Safety department is a professional position reporting to the Senior Advisor, WHS Services. This position develops and manages various initiatives and/or programs and provides ongoing client support between individuals, departments, sites and programs. Provides leadership to develop a strategy for the coordination and delivery of educational tools/resources and leads the implementation of assigned projects and programs aimed at protecting and enhancing the health, safety and wellness of AHS staff. The position is also responsible for:

  • Providing input into the needs of staff and line managers in relation to health promotion, safety and hygiene, ergonomic and disease/injury prevention programs.
  • Implementation of program, policy and procedural strategies to address occupational health and safety hazards on the site or in assigned responsibility areas.
  • Assisting with the promotion of WHS programs and strategic priorities.
  • Delivering programs and services to staff and line managers to meet their needs, e.g. occupational hygiene and safety issues, and consultation when required.
  • Measuring and monitoring the outcomes for current programs and new initiatives.
  • Educating and training of staff in regulations, practices, procedures, policies and programs.
  • Acting as an expert resource to JWHSC committees, managers and other stakeholders
  • WCB Claims Management
  • Fit testing and, other consultation/duties as required
  • A minimum of a degree/diploma/certification in Occupational Health & Safety or related discipline and CRSP designation. If CRSP not present, commitment to complete within 2 years must be provided.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in Occupational Health & Safety in an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity is preferred (healthcare experience an asset).
  • A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development.
  • Equivalencies of education and experience may be considered.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.

A current and original Criminal Record Check is a requirement of all external applicants in order to be considered for a position.
