The Concurrent Disorder Enhanced Service within the Adult Inpatient Program at The Centennial Centre for Mental Health and Brain Injury provides care and treatment for those individuals experiencing both a severe mental illness and a severe addictions disorder. In your role as Psychiatric Aide, you will be working from a client centered treatment perspective. You will be responsible for assisting patients to meet their treatment goals and will assist them in completing activities of daily living, organizing unit activities, escorting patients and performing other related duties. You will observe and report all relevant patient information to a Staff Nurse/ Unit Manager. You will have excellent observation, communication, organization and interpersonal skills.
You must have a Grade 12 education and a valid Heart and Stroke Health Care Providers Level C certificate. A Mental Health Aide, Personal Care Aide, or other equivalent health related certificate is desirable. Preference given to those with experience in mental health and addictions. Keen observation and communication skills and the ability to work effectively as a team player in an in-patient mental health setting is essential.
