Minimum: 22.08 per hour Maximum: 24.33 per hour
Reporting to the Unit and the Area Manager, and under the direction of the Recreation Therapists, the incumbent will participate in the assessment of the client's recreation and socialization needs and in the development, implementation and evaluation of general programs that meet the needs, interests and abilities of the residents. The Recreation Therapy Assistant will provide ongoing communication to the Recreation Therapists of all changes in the client's condition, reaction to treatment, and progress made. Assists clients to recreation activities on the Rehabilitation Unit and during community mobility sessions outside of the facility. Work with many disciplines to develop and maintain collaborative relationships in a team.
Diploma in Recreation Therapy is preferred, a Diploma in Rehabilitation Service is acceptable and experience with Recreation Therapy preferred. This position covers Days, Evenings and Weekends. Experience working with a multi-disciplinary team approach and strong interpersonal skills is preferred. Must have good oral and written communication skills and must be able to meet the physical demands of the position. Experience working in one or more of the following: PT assistant, OT assistant, SLP assistant, Rec. T Assistant is required.

Comments: Position is on the in Patient Rehab Unit at the Red Deer Regional Hospital. The shifts include days, evenings and every other Saturday.
